2006 SEC Notable Items

Tampa Bay's SEC was postponed for a year because the MPI WEC took place in Miami Beach in 2005 and there was concern over securing sponsorships.  This allowed Tampa Bay a two year ramp up to what became a record setting SEC and the chance to implement a number of firsts and bests.  Among them:

  • The first SEC to follow the shortened two day (Thursday-Saturday) format
  • The first SEC to have a dedicated "Wow" committee to inject the theme into every aspect of the conference.
  • The first SEC to have a dedicated Contingency Planning Committee.
  • With 150 qualified planners, it was the first to break to the 100 planner mark.
  • With over 27,000 in income, it was the highest grossing individual chapter take on the Silent and Live Auction.

The conference featured two keynote addresses by Roy Firestone and Walter Bond, both receiving an amazing 98% approval rating from attendees.  Our host hotel, the Hilton Clearwater Beach, razzle dazzled us with their service levels, accommodations and creative food and beverage.  The Opening Night Reception Icy Hot event was co-hosted by the Marriott Sand Key and Sheraton Sand Key resorts.

Our Closing Night Gala was Rock the Razzbah with a Moroccan theme and was a smashing success.

The 2006 Charity was the American Cancer Society and we raised approximately $500.
